The Pan African Film & Arts Festival (PAFF) is pleased to present PAFF ENCORES at the Culver Plaza Theatre beginning in March 2010. PAFF ENCORES is a monthly screening of the PAFF’s the programming favorites from our annual signature film festival.
During the 2010 PAFF in Los Angeles, “41st & Central: The Untold Story of the L.A. Black Panthers” screened before an unprecedented 900 people. With a line for tickets stretching around the theatre and down the street, the PAFF is pleased to present this film in a limited one week engagement as part of the PAFF’s inaugural PAFF ENCORES programming.
Because the PAFF is the largest Black History Month event in the USA and the largest Black film festival in the country with the the distinction of being an Official Event of Los Angeles Mayor Antonio R. Villaraigosa’s Celebration of African American Heritage Month, we have a built in dedicated audience of thousands for our programming.
We invite you and your company to join with the City of Los Angeles, the Department of Cultural Affairs for the City of Los Angeles and the Los Angeles County Arts Commission in participating in this prestigious entertainment event with its attendees that include members of the film, arts, civic, and legislative communities, as well as the general public.
This 7-day event provides many excellent high profile opportunities for sponsorship. By participating as a sponsor, an organization gains wide exposure to a wide audience that is educated and culturally aware.

ADVERTISING OPPORTUNITIES
Shine with the stars on the big screen when you partner with the Pan African Film & Arts Festival’s. Through PAFF, local businesses and organizations have the opportunity to grow their businesses and spread their message with advertising campaigns right in their local communities.
The PAFF is pleased to offer opportunities for screen advertising at our main venue the Culver Plaza Theatre. Advertisers will reach consumers in a 400-seat theatre 4 times a day for one week beginning March 26 through April 8.
INTERMISSION SLIDE SHOW
The PAFF’s advertising slides are screened before the Preshow trailers and feature presentation during intermission. Ads appear on-screen for approximately 10 seconds, preceding every screening of the film, a total of 28 screenings.
- Each ad is featured at least three times during the Preshow, and multiple creative executions can run within the same Preshow.
- Slides run in front of all films and must be all-ratings appropriate.

TRAILER/COMMERCIAL ADVERTISEMENT PROGRAM
The PAFF trailer advertisement program provides an easy way for your company to obtain exposure to the over 11,000 expected attendees of the PAFF ENCORES film event. Theaters are open to our guests 20 minutes before the screenings begin. Prior to the film screening, we present trailer/commercial advertisements. Each trailer/commercial is presented for up to 60 seconds.

CREATIVE CONTENT INFO FOR ANIMATED AND/OR STATIC ON-SCREEN CAMPAIGNS
Message
A simple and concise message is the key to an effective cinema advertising campaign. Your message should be focused on a single product or unique selling point.
Visual
Simplicity builds recall. A clear, eye-catching visual coupled with a streamlined message creates an effective campaign.
Text
Simplicity works. Up to 20 words are recommended, including your company name and location. Avoid complex details as they will subtract from your core message.
Colors
To guarantee projection, text should be strongly contrasted against the background. Certain colors – such as red and blue – should be outlined or surrounded by a light color to ensure projection.
All text should fit within the designated safe area. Borders framing the entire outer edge of an ad or black feathered edges are not recommended.
SUPPLIED MATERIALS – DELIVERY SPECIFICATIONS SLIDES
Format
All supplied ads must be Adobe Photoshop compatible. No other file types will be accepted.
Ads created in Adobe Illustrator should be saved as an illustrator .eps file. All artwork and fonts must be separately supplied. Fonts should be Mac compatible or converted to outlines.
Quark, Word, Pagemaker, In Design or any other design/word processing documents are not accepted as final creative.

1280 pixels x 720 pixels (10.14 x 5.704 inches @ 126.233 dpi)
Safe Area
1093 pixels x 567 pixels (8.659 x 4.492 inches @ 126.233 dpi)
The safe area is calculated from the center of the image area. All text and logos must be contained within this designated safe area.
File Types
The preferred format is a .psd file with all layers preserved. Files can also be saved as .eps, .jpg, .pct, .tif. Please be sure to save files with the extension at the end of the file name.
Final ads should be built to the full Photoshop dimensions, not the safe area dimensions.
Delivery Options
*Materials can be emailed to ads@paff.org or supplied on Mac & PC compatible CD, DVD, or External Hard Drive.

Trailers should be edited to 30 or 60 second spots and delivered or mailed on a DVD.
